How to use AI Assistance mode for Packs

2 min read · Updated 17 September 2026

We added a basic AI Assistance mode to allow creating Cards easier in Packs.

Note

You must also have an Apple Intelligence enabled device.

It is easier to explain how this functions by providing an example. For this example we will be creating a German language learning Pack.

Steps#

  1. Create a new Pack or edit an existing Pack
  2. Head to the AI Assistance section and toggle on "Enable AI Assistance for this pack"
  3. In the Advanced AI Mode type "What is {question} in German?"
  4. Scroll to the bottom and press Done
  5. Tap on this Pack
  6. Tap the create a Card button (the plus in the top right)
  7. Type in the word in English in the Question section (e.g. Dog)
  8. Scroll down to the Answer section and press "Answer with AI"
  9. The AI should set the answer (e.g. "Hund")

How does this work?#

The Advanced AI Mode field allows you to supply a question based on the format your pack will take. In this case, the pack is all English words for the Questions and for the Answers we expect their German equivalent.

We entered What is {question} in German? this means that whatever you type in for the Question appears where it says {question}. So the on-device LLM receives What is Dog in German? which is really easy for the LLM, the answer is Hund.

Note

If your flashcard Question already contains an actual question, you do not need to set up the Advanced AI Mode. For instance, if your Question was What is the capital of England? then the on-device LLM would be able to answer that without any additional context.
